Addressing Divestment
Addressing Divestment
November 19
The climate crisis is not a new development, scientists predict that we have 10 years before climate change is irreversible. The St. Thomas University Students’ Union is committed to doing our part to reduce that footprint.
Over the past four years, Divest STU has advocated for the transfer of university investments from fossil fuel companies to green investments. The campaign has grown in popularity, and it is clear that students support this initiative.
In response, the St. Thomas University Students’ Union officially recognizes the legitimacy and importance of Divest STU, and their commitment to sustainability during this climate emergency. We call on the Administration of St. Thomas University to explore all possible routes to divestment and facilitate the involvement of Divest STU in this project.
Divestment is an attainable goal. Universities across the country showcase its success, and STUSU encourages St. Thomas University to join this pursuit towards a sustainable future.
On behalf of the St. Thomas University Students’ Union,
Tyler (Ty) MaGee, President
