Stevie Demerchant (she/they)

Hi!

I’m Stevie-Rae DeMerchant, a Wolastoqiyik women from the beautiful community of Woodstock First Nation. I am a fourth-year student at St. Thomas University who is pursuing an Honours in Criminology with a double minor in History and Native Studies.

For the past two years, I served as Indigenous Representative on the St. Thomas University Students’ Union, and I am excited to serve now as your president for the 2023/24 academic year. This year, I am looking forward to bringing advocacy closer to the students and advancing the student agenda in hopes of a more affordable, equitable and equal education for all students.

Ahmik Burneo (he/him)

Hi everyone!

My name is Ahmik Burneo (he/him) and I am a fourth-year international student from Guayaquil, Ecuador. This year I will be graduating with an honours in International Relations and a major in Economics and I am so delighted and grateful to serve as STUSU Vice President Administration for this upcoming academic year.

 As VP Admin, I can’t wait to collaborate with my fellow executive members, representatives, and the entire student body to enhance the student’s quality of life and achieve a lot of new things in the upcoming year while making all our voices heard. I am more than ready to take on this role and make the STU community more integrated while serving with transparency, accountability, and leadership.

Isabella Baralt (she/her)

Hi everyone,

My name is Isabella Baralt (she/her) and I am a third-year student from Venezuela majoring in Communications and Public Policy and International Relations. I am also beyond excited to be your Vice-President Student Life for the 2023-2024 academic year!

As VPSL, I look forward the most to work with every student and making STU welcoming and accommodating for everyone. Furthermore, I will do everything, so all the students have the best university experience possible by increasing student engagement and enhancing student wellness.

Emily Boucher (she/her)

Hello,

I’m Emily Boucher and I go by she/her pronouns. I am a domestic student from Riverview, NB, and I’m currently in my third year at STU, honouring in History and pursuing minors in French and Anthropology. 

I’m beyond thrilled to serve you as Vice President of Education for the academic year 2023/2024! I have been actively involved in various advocacy projects both on and off campus, ensuring that university is safe and affordable. My main areas of interest are inclusivity, advocacy, and sustainability. I am eager to apply these passions to my role in the students’ union this year, as we strive for a future that is fair and accessible to STUdents.
