COVID-19 Response
Good evening,
I am writing to address some concerns related to the COVID-19 Virus and the recent announcement by St. Thomas University to suspend classes for the remainder of the semester.
I understand the concerns and anxiety that might arise from this situation and would like to assure you that we are doing everything in our power to ensure the optimal outcome for students. Your health and safety are at the forefront of our minds.
As such, we support the University’s decision to cancel in-person classes until Wednesday to provide students who wish to travel home an opportunity to do so. Some professors have already started to reach out via e-mail and Moodle regarding classwork.
All of our remaining large events have been canceled for this semester following the recommendation of the Cheif Medical Officer of Public Health’s Website.
Saferide operations will be canceled for the remainder of the academic year to preserve the safety of our students and the drivers.
Our Community Food Smart service will be canceled until further notice.
The JDH Help Desk will be closed for the remainder of the semester as its operation is heavily dependent on our student volunteers.
We strongly encourage that all ratified clubs and societies cancel any events planned for this semester.
Please check your email daily and follow the STUSU and STU on social media.

We know that this is a difficult time for our campus community and we would like to support you as much as possible. We would like to highlight our emergency bursary program that provides financial assistance to students in need as a result of unforeseen emergencies. Should you wish to be considered for an emergency bursary, visit here to download the form and submit it directly to su_vpsl@stu.ca.
Please do not hesitate to let me or any of the executive team know if there is something we can help with to make this transition easier for you. For specific questions, the University has created a dedicated e-mail address for students, ask@stu.ca.
For those of you who have decided to go home for the remainder of the year, we wish you safe travels home. Thank you for your understanding and resilience during this difficult time. We remain committed to serving you throughout the remainder of the semester.
Sincerely,
Husoni Raymond
