Academic Assistance
What we can fund you for:
- Conferences, workshops, seminars, educational trips within Canada and overseas
- Projects related to your academic growth (self publishing, gallery openings, backing for film and stage productions, etc.)
What we cannot fund you for
- The Academic Assistance line is not to be used to fund tuition. Although we wish that we had the money to pay for everyone to go to school, we just don’t, and so we cannot accept applications for regular tuition from STU, intersession or summer session courses, or online courses from other universities.
- The Academic Assistance line does not fund expenses directly related to post-graduate studies – for example, travel for interviews, fees for MCATs, LSATs or GREs, or application fees for graduate school.
How to go about funding:
- All requests for Academic Assistants must be submitted to the Finance Committee via the Vice President Administration.
- Requests for retroactive funding will not be considered – all funding must be requested prior to the event, conference, trip…etc.
The Finance Committee has the ability to allocate as much money as is deemed appropriate or necessary to any given project. Please be advised, that the committee strives to provide assistance to as many students as possible, and that even if your application meets the criteria outlined above, we may not be able to provide the exact dollar amount that you have requested.
