1st Place: Windsor Street! (92.7 L/ student reduction)
2nd: Rigby (38.3 L/ student)
3rd: Vanier (increased 19.12 L/ student)
4th: Chatham (increased 29.95 L/ student)
5th: Holy Cross (increased 30.5 L/ student)
6th: Harrington (increased 82 L/ student)

The houses seem to be straying so we have provided them with a little extra help. Each house now has three egg timers to rotate around and try to cut down their shower times. Shortening your shower by one minute will conserve 10 L of water! If everyone cut it down by a few minutes several times a week that could be all you need to get your house into the first place slot.

Two weeks into STU’s Water Conservation Challenge and the residences are conserving more water to see who will the $500 for their house. These results are based off of reduction from February 3 – 10. After the second week of the competition the ranking is:

1st Place: Harrington! (117.63 L/ student reduction)
2nd: Vanier (80.79 L/ student)
3rd: Holy Cross (61.01 L/ student)
4th: Rigby (56.6 L/ student)
5th: Chatham (increased 14.9 L/ student)
6th: Windsor Street (increased 64.48 L/ student)

With only 3 weeks left to save students need to keep conserving water to win.
Here are some helpful hints to keep the houses going:

- Shortening your shower by 1 minute cuts down 10L of water.
- Washing your hands with the tap running uses 8L of water. Don’t leave the water running while lathering.
- Run the washing machine and dish washer only when there are full loads.
- Throw tissue in the garbage instead of flushing it down the toilet.
- Instead of running the tap to get cold water keep a pitcher or even just a glass in the refrigerator.

Time your showers to keep them short! Even turning off the water while shampooing or shaving will save and help your house to win.

1st Place: Windsor Street! (121.72 L/ student reduction)
2nd: Chatham (89.55 L/ student)
3rd: Rigby (81.66 L/ student)
5th: Holy Cross (18.89 L/ student)
6th: Harrington (increased 2.48 L/ student)

There are still another 4 weeks to go! The house with the best standing overall wins the prize, but there will also be a prize for second place, and of course, bragging rights.
What’s your team’s strategy?
