Shivering Songs Festival Hits the Stage in Fredericton February 3-5
The Shivering Songs Folk Festival is back to fill the mid-winter void of live music.
St. Thomas University and the STU Students’ Union are sponsors of this year’s festival and are making tickets available to students at $5 each for three of the festival’s shows. (The regular-priced tickets are between $15 and $25.)

Hot Toddy and The Olympic Symphonium
Fredericton’s acoustic folk/blues ensemble Hot Toddy will re-unite to kick off the festival performing their album Shoe Factoryon Friday, February 3 at 8 pm at Wilmot United Church. They’ll be joined by festival curators The Olympic Symphonium. Fifty tickets are available for this show.
Songwriters & Storytellers
STU’s own Artist in Residence and award-winning author David Adams Richards will take the stage for a reading during the Songwriters & Storytellers on Saturday, February 4 at 2 pm at Wilmot United Church. PEI folk singer-songwriter Catherine MacLellan, Mike O’Neill (former member of the Inbreds) and Andrew Sisk (Share) will perform alongside Richards at the Wilmot Church. One hundred tickets are available for this show.
Mark Kozelek and Sun Kil Moon
San Francisco’s Mark Kozelek, formerly of the Red House Painters, and Sun Kil Moon, will perform Saturday, February 4 at 8 pm at Wilmot United Church. Wintersleep’s Paul Murphy brings Postdata to the stage to complement Kozelek. Fifty tickets are available for this show.
Other Shivering Songs Festival shows include a Bluegrass Brunch at the Fredericton Boyce Farmers’ Market with Alan Jeffries and Sam Pickens and The High Water String Band on Sunday. The Capital Complex will also feature Friday and Saturday night performances of Owen Steel and Babette Hayward, as well as indie-rock artist Snailhouse and jazz/indie band Gypsophilia.
The student tickets can be purchased from Debbie Hudson in McCain Hall, Room 404 beginning Monday, Jan. 16 at 8:00 am.
